Taiwan F-16 Jet Fighters' combat capability under question
The combat capability of the Republic of China Air Force's F-16 jet fighters came under question Friday after it was revealed that two F-16s sent to sink an overturned cargo ship carrying a load of toxic chemicals Thursday fired four laser-guided bombs but failed to accomplish their mission. Royal Netherlands Air Force offers surplus F-16s to Chile and Brazil
The Chilean air force is in negotiations for the acquisition of 20 to 28 surplus Royal Netherlands Air Force F-16s. The aircraft are needed to replace Chile's entire fleet of ageing Mirage-5MA and Mirage- 50C/FC aircraft, which are expensive to operate and maintain. Full story at F-16.net

Eurofighter to make Show debut at IDEF Ankara, Turkey 2005
Eurofighter the world’s best-selling next generation swing-role combat aircraft, makes its first ever appearance in the skies over Turkey this week at the IDEF 2005 Show in Ankara.
A Eurofighter aircraft will be featured at the Show by consortium partner Alenia. VIP guests and visitors to IDEF will witness first hand the skilled airmanship of Italian Air Force Eurofighter pilots providing a show-stopping air display.
On the ground the ‘walk-through’ Eurofighter Stand will feature a Full Operational Capability (FOC) standard Eurofighter cockpit. The stand will also provide capability and mission performance demonstrations and briefings by Eurofighter Typhoon aircrew. These briefings will be supported by a new and exciting audio/visual production that demonstrates the aircraft’s capability and role within the four partner air force’s and NATO. This presentation is scheduled to run concurrently throughout the week for welcome visitors.
Following the successful completion of Tranche 2 negotiations at the end of last year the four-nation Eurofighter programme is now entering the most exciting and dynamic period of its life so far.
To date more than 50 aircraft have been delivered into service with the airforces of Germany, UK, Spain and Italy. Full story at eurofighter.com

Pakistan will acquire 77 F-16s via the US
Pakistan will buy 77 F-16 jets from the U.S. which Washington will acquire from a third country, after they are fitted with the state-of-the-art equipment, Islamabad's Ambassador to America Gen (retd) Jehangir Karamat said. Full story at F-16.net
